The new season of The Crown is up and running (Season 5) amidst a bit of controversy, as it covers an era that feel less historical and more within our living memories. Lots of famous actors playing the parts, we must remember it is called a "Royal Soap Opera" and this is how we should see it; bending the newspaper headlines to make watchable television that most can't resist watching! FUN ASCOT RACES ROYAL FACTS:
Ascot Racecourse was founded in 1711 by Queen Anne, so that horses could “gallop at full stretch!”
The Royal connections have been throughout its history with the highlight being Royal Ascot Week.
The Queen has had 71 winners at Ascot Races since she ascended to the throne in 1952.
Some of the dress code dates back to Beau Brummel, friend of The Prince Regent, who took 5 hours a day to dress & polished his boots with champagne!
