Royal Ascot 14th – 18th June 2022
FUN ASCOT RACES ROYAL FACTS:
Ascot Racecourse was founded in 1711 by Queen Anne, so that horses could “gallop at full stretch!”
The Royal connections have been throughout its history with the highlight being Royal Ascot Week.
The Queen has had 71 winners at Ascot Races since she ascended to the throne in 1952.
Some of the dress code dates back to Beau Brummel, friend of The Prince Regent, who took 5 hours a day to dress & polished his boots with champagne!
ASCOT RACES & HATS
The special day for The Gold Cup race is Ascot Ladies Day, this year Thursday 16th June 2022. The cameras will be out in particular for the most flamboyant ladies’ hat on Ascot Ladies Day.
Gentlemen attending the Royal enclosure will be required to wear a Top Hat, & any man attending Ascot must wear a tie; an excuse to break the norm and dress up for the day. Perhaps we will see some gender neutral Ascot Dress Code appearing this year?
The gatemen at Royal Ascot have worn bowler hats since 1959
Whatever your outfit, you will need a Hat Box, to look after your hat; a flimsy pop up box will not do for these unique creations!
HOW TO LOOK AFTER YOUR ASCOT HAT
It is just not worth getting the brim crushed or slightly marked or bent, a feather getting snapped, so treat yourself to a gorgeous Hat Box, handmade in the UK by The Empty Box Company. We have a large range to choose from, ready for when Ascot is over and you need to store your hat perfectly in a beautiful Hat Box. If we don’t have the right dimensions for your hat, we can make you a Bespoke Hat Box to size, on request.
And let’s not forget the boys! Dusting off that Top Hat, or even hunting hat, means you need a suitable sturdy hat box to store the hat in when not in use, we can make in gentlemanly designs as well as Hat Boxes for ladies.
